are the top 3 things that you might share, your elevator speech, if you will. rob mentioned institutional knowledge. what do you want to take and give to someone else when they come to san francisco? and this is for our military participants. captain houston? >> my recommendation, dod element coming into a city incident, is, one, bring a list of your communications capabilities, your frequencies and documented in its capabilities, not necessarily the acronym of your branch. we came in with our hf radios and lucas took that information, he understood it and put it on to his ics form. so that's the no. 1 priority that i would say to bring in initially. 2, i would say understand the primary situational awareness. in the military we call it a pay plan or primary alternate. what i would say is understand what your operators want to see as their primary form of communication and command and control. 3, i would say communicate in the clear. and with that what i mean is identify your equipment by capabilities, and also the radios need to be unencrypted single channel and plain text, which i

, rob. good morning, paula. we have no comment on this from the u.s. but the iranians claim they brought down what's known as a scan eagle drone, after it violated iranian air space. it's right now in an iranian studio. it's a small surveillance drone. u.s. navy captains used them to watch their own ships. this is not an armed drone. if the iranians brought it down, the u.s. will see that as a very aggressive action. last month, the iranians tried to shoot down a u.s. drone in the same place. almost exactly a year ago, the iranians brought down a high-tech drone, one used by the cia. that was inside iranian territory. as you said, this will raise tensions in a very sensitive area. u.s. has thousands of service members in the gulf, just a few miles from iran. and the u.s. continues to accuse iran of trying to develop a nuclear weapon. ron? paula? >> nick schifrin with the latest from london. thank you, nick. we'll see you in just a moment. >>> also from london, kate middleton, the duchess of cambridge, is hospitalized there, for a second day. doctors are keeping a close eye on the 30-year

is happening that notice many people have been watching this. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, scenitists are not sure why this is happening. >> still largely intact, this humboldt squid may have become stranded here on hidden beach in aptos within the past 24 hours. it's one of hundreds, if not thousands of squid to be found on beaches from rio del mar to pleasure point. why it's happening is not clear. research biologist john field suspects the squid are simply losing their way. >> it looks like the squid at times to do not realize that the ocean will end. sometimes they are swimming in a shallow water and they seem to be healthy but they are stranded and die. there could be just a small fraction of the population that is still in that. it could be a reflection that there are abundant squid in coastal waters. >> makin grew to nearly 100 lbs.. most of these are one- 2 ft.. this could be at least 3 ft. long. another theory is that toxins in algae or the so-called 'red tide' may cause the squid to lose their sense of direction. while still rare, squid-strandings are on the incr
